A Northern Beach Paradise: Rowing Through the Greek Coastal Beauty

Greece is a country steeped in history, brimming with breathtaking landscapes, and offering a rich tapestry of experiences for travellers. For those who joined our Northern Beach Paradise trip in September 2023, this adventure included excellent coastal rowing. Let’s take a closer look at what made this trip so special, as shared by some of the participants.

A Relaxing Pace and Time to Explore

We always try to balance out the structured activities and free time on our trips. It sounds like this time we really hit the sweet spot.

Nice balance of rowing and side activities, with the sightseeing out of the way on the first day in Thessaloniki. It was nice to have some hours off in the afternoons, given the exertion and heat that we were not all used to.

I liked that we had the “ down” time to do as we wanted. I never felt rushed.

Enjoyed the beaches the most… swimming and being able to walk along or stop for a drink.

Culinary Delights and New Discoveries

Greece is celebrated for its gastronomic offerings, and this trip was no exception. The great thing about a rowing trip is that you get to really enjoy sampling all the wonderful local food.

I loved the choices and presentation. Much of it new to me so I was impressed. We had PLENTY.

I loved the “family Style” eating that was common in our lunches and dinners. The food was excellent.

Excellent choices of venues. The food at the camping ground was excellent, good choices made by the guides.

Guides with Expertise and Heart

We love our guides. They are essential to any trip’s success. They not only keep everyone safe and organized, but also take the experience to another level with their knowledge of the local waters and the fun they bring to the group.

The Guides were phenomenal. They helped to care for the boats and did a lot of the heavy lifting as well as “de-rigging.” They were also engaged with the group and were fun to be around.

Ruth has a special talent for rough water encouragement and reassurance that I had not been aware of. Outstanding, and it saved the day.
I always marvel at the infinite details she coolly takes care of that allow the trips to go so smoothly.
Apostolis was inexhaustible and generous, and great to have with us, and Christo.

Apostolis and Kristof were stellar and inspirational. Impressed at their ability to multitask. Ruth was excellent in providing information and keeping us on schedule.

A Variety of Locations and a Present-Focused Approach

Mixing up the locations and staying in the moment is crucial. It keeps things on the tour exciting and lets you fully absorb the adventure, ensuring you get the most out of the experience.

We really liked the variety of locations and that the trip started and ended in the area’s main city (Thessaloniki). Also appreciated Ruth’s one-day-at-a-time approach, which indeed helped us focus on and enjoy the present.

Well organized and flexible. Loved that Ruth always has a Plan B in case Plan A doesn’t work out!!! Kudos!

We had a blast on our Northern Beach Paradise coastal rowing trip through Greece this year. Our wonderful guides enjoyed sharing their country with us, from the serene beaches to the cultural attractions, making sure everyone felt safe, inspired, and well taken care of. As the guests have attested, a journey like this is not just a trip; it’s an unforgettable experience. And, as Barb and Andrew aptly summed it up “An active holiday is the best holiday.”
