What Our Customers Say – Testimonials 2019

We listen very carefully to what our customers say. Before, during and after a tour. In the planning stages of a rowing trip, we get some fabulous ideas from rowers. During a trip, we can often do some fine-tuning and make adjustments if needed. Even though we usually have a very good idea how things went, we ask our guests to complete an evaluation, which not only rates the various aspects of the trip, but also asks what were the favourite parts and where we could make improvements. What emerges from those evaluations are some wonderful testimonials.

We wanted to share some of these testimonials, since they address some of the questions that we get asked by potential guests. Who better to tell others? Sincere thanks to everyone who has provided feedback and contributed to making our rowing trips a success!

We get asked who comes on the trips. Since we spend time together in and out of the boats, this can be important. There is something about rowing travel that lets people bond quickly. Coxing is another question that gets raised.

Elena taking her turn coxing

I had an amazing trip. The group all got along really well, there was a fair distribution of coxing duties, and the scenery was spectacular. Nikos and Iannis were great guides. I felt secure at all times, even when the conditions were rougher – I had an enjoyable outing in the single with lots of handy tips from Iannis, and Nikos was always close at hand.

Elena P., Cambridge, United Kingdom

When there are special requests, like a chance to try a coastal single with expert assistance on our Greece Northern Beaches tour, we are happy to oblige if we can, including for non-rower companions. If you have not read it yet, read Cathy Senecal’s description of this trip as a non-rower, including her first rowing lesson.

Here is another quote along the same lines, in this case talking about our British Columbia Wilderness trip:

I really loved getting to know my roommate, Liza, and coxing with her in the stroke seat. A trip like this is such an invaluable experience to connect with like-minded people.

Jennifer K., Philadelphia, U.S.A.

Going through the Pinkertons. Jennifer is 3 seat. Pat is in the other quad.

As this was my first RTW trip, I felt it was great to have it in my own “backyard” …

The trip through the Pinkertons was the best day for me but each day had something new that maybe wasn’t seen or done on other days.  I enjoyed the hike as a change of scenery…

I felt the entire group was very cohesive.  Loved the whole experience.

Pat B., Victoria, Canada

“What is the rowing like?” is an obvious question. Each trip has its particular character. There are details for each trip description, including distances rowed. This blog post might help you sort out some of the differences amongst the trips and we are always happy to answer questions. The constant for all trips, is we want to you offer you the opportunity to row in beautiful surroundings.

Rowing the charming Clarence River, Australia

Following the changing river made every day varied in terms of scenery, terrain of the river and the activities.

Kathy B., Neuchâtel, Switzerland

By the way, Kathy has done a remarkable number of trips with us (as have others!) and you can get to know her a little bit in this blog post.

And while rowing is the focus of the trip, another common question is whether we row all the time. We don’t!

Great mixture of rowing and cultural activities. I love meeting new people on each trip. Great locations to choose from too.

Alix S., Treasure Coast, U.S.A.

Canada rowing tour PEI rowing

The variety of hotels and restaurants were wonderful!  I really enjoyed the additional cultural adventures and museum trips.

Patty H., Atlanta, U.S.A

We believe that an important contribution to the success of our trips are our guides, who are all rowers and interesting people. Such as Vivien Jackson, who guides our Classic River Thames tour, along with Gilly Dean.

Henri, Ruth, Corinne and Catherine – the Dordogne guides for 2019!

I would like to convey my thanks to you, Ruth and to Henri, Corrine and Catherine for a fantastic rowing tour. Despite the issues with low river levels, we had heaps of fun!

The standard of accommodation and food exceeded my expectations. I loved the sightseeing offered and was very lucky to experience the tour with such a great group of people.

I’d love to go on another rowing tour in another couple of years.

Rebecca J., Melbourne, Australia

We are proud to put a lot of work into the planning and running of our rowing tours. Which is perhaps another answer to the question of why buy a rowing trip?

I had always wanted to take part in Vogalonga and it was great to have everything organised as had tried before and found it difficult to do.

Helen L., Swansea, United Kingdom

One question we always ask our guests, is would they recommend us?

I have been on trips with you before and will continue to join your trips as long as they work as well as those I’ve been on so far. Yes, I do recommend you.

Catharina L., Gothenburg, Sweden

We hope that these 2019 testimonials have given you a good sense of what it is like to travel with Rowing The World. We are always happy to answer questions and can provide references. Thank you again to all of our guests this past year!
